Southern/alpha launched as an online news property to tell the story of Southern startups, but we hope to be so much more. Our mission, as we see it, is to provide the startup and technology communities with news and information to ease their navigation of their respective and communal ecosystems.

The South is not a collection of islands, though it seems to operate as such.

There are presently numerous startup communities dotting the South, from the more established bastions of the Research Triangle in North Carolina to the fledgling communities of Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana and Florida. Between these markets is the connective tissue of investors, information and talent, the awareness of which we view to be vital, as the region grows its presence nationwide.

No one community need stand alone. Together, we can truly channel the flowing tide of entrepreneurship in the South and make all of our voices heard.

SouthernAlpha is endeavoring to be that voice of and community in which those startups, investors and the developers who keep their companies running. Through our site we hope the members of all the Southern communities can find, meet and inform each other.

Only through increased communication can we grow as a region. Only through increased transparency can we make a national impact.

If we can inform and inspire the next generation of startup founders and those in the surrounding sectors then we can sleep well at night.

We encourage you to peruse our site and see what we have to offer. If you have thoughts on areas we’re missing, please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us. We are hungry for contributors, thought leaders and denizens of the community to inform and enhance our vision of what the South can be.

We hope you can share and bolster our vision.
