Jumpstart brings in COO

Nashville’s Jumpstart Foundry announced today that it has tapped David Ledgerwood to serve as its new chief operating officer. With the accelerator, Ledgerwood will be responsible for helping the program grow from “an annual event to an sustained year-round business.”

Ledgerwood came to Nashville in 2006 while scouting for a home for his own startup. Since then he has been a continued member of the city’s entrepreneurial and technology scenes, also having previously served as a Jumpstart mentor.

He comes to Jumpstart from RANDA Solutions. Prior to his time with that company he founded numerous startups and ran a $10 million regional news and information website. The primary breadth that Jumpstart touts in its hiring of Ledgerwood is his dual experience with garage-based startups andFortune 500 companies.

“It’s a natural and timely evolution for Jumpstart Foundry to bring in a full time operator at this stage,” said Managing Director, Vic Gatto. “It’s a signal to our investors and mentors that we’re in business for the long term, and more importantly to our applicants that we’re invested in their successes as they launch, develop and fund their visions.”

He is slated to officially begin his duties on Feb. 1. Jumpstart’s new cohort is slated to begin in May.
